It can be hard, I agree. But try and find a hobby, that will do it. And if you think you aren't good at anything, just joining some kind of club or class. I suggest a dance class since it can be really fun, makes you forget the bad stuff, and the exercise feels good. A painting class or a reading group can be fun too, and these all give you the opportunity to make new friends and get out of whatever rut you are in :)
4 out of 5 stars simply because suggestion 1 is not very helpful to many people with diagnosed clinical depression. They cannot simply "stop the negative thoughts."

feels enthusiastic after reading this, i was really depressed as my exam was approaching and i didnot study.
Comments helped.. I have depression and am taking medication for it. I have been through so much in my life lately that it has really taken ahold of me. At this point I feel worthless and invisible, but I will take into consideration of what I have read. Thanks
